Andorra and San Marino are two European microstates with a combined population of just over 1 lakh ( 15 times lesser than Goa) and total combined area of just over 500 Square kilometer ( Seven times lesser than Goa)
In the year 2019, these two countries introduced a resolution at the United Nations General Assembly to establish a day for combating food waste, with the support of Argentina, FAO and UN Environment Program. The resolution was very well received, with 60 co-sponsor countries showing an interest in the topic
In its 52nd plenary meeting held on 19th December 2019, the United Nations General Assembly, designated 29th September every year to be observed as a International Day of Food Loss and Waste globally.
Its so amazing to see what an impact two of the world's smallest countries could achieve.
1. Do you have a story to share on how you saved food from getting wasted ?
2. What do you think we can do in Goa on 29th September 2023. (Its a Friday and we have more than 2 months to prepare)
